Sheraton - Kagoshima
A Sheraton-branded hotel, under Marriott International, was built on the site of the former Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau rail yards.

In this project we designed three large scale wall coverings that were installed surrounding the hotel's escalators. The process started with a custom made painting that was then scanned and software edited into a fascinating wall-cover design.

The art depicts an abstracted landscape made of organic rocks, tree shadows, twigs, and mountains to create a dream-like feel using Kagoshima’s elements of nature.

Selected elements, bearing the same design, were hand painted, using Sumi-ink over Cypress Wood surfaces, and installed as if floating on top of the wall covering. These 3D elements add an extra dimension feel, creating a subtle relief and unique experience to the people riding the escalators.
